Kitchen in minimalism from scratch

Minimalism is chosen by residents of large cities, perfectionists, people with an active rhythm of life and, at the same time, aesthetes. This direction of interior design has arisen in the wake of the heyday of modernism and based on Japanese culture. In the western variation, minimalism is less radical, more practical and functional. How strictly the interior of your kitchen will be maintained is up to you, the main thing is to follow the basic principles.

The style of minimalism in the interior distinguishes:

• Minimum items of furniture and decor;
• Geometry and laconic forms of furniture and decor;
• A maximum of 3 primary colors in the interior, most often these are neutral base colors, but bright accents are acceptable;
• Only built-in appliances;
• Good natural and artificial lighting;

Thus, creating a minimalist kitchen design requires the following tasks: to increase the space visually and functionally, fill the space with light to the maximum, think over the kitchen ergonomics and storage system so that the working and dining area is not full and almost empty.

Finishing and materials

Minimalism in both decoration and furniture implies a combination of modern materials (plastic, metal, glass) with natural materials - wood, stone, and ceramics. Ideally, the whole decoration should be simple, but immaculate in quality and, of course, without decor and decorations.

Ceiling

The ceiling should be bright, better matte, but gloss is appropriate. It can be covered with plaster or paint, optimal stretch ceilingand if the height allows it, it is better to distinguish between the kitchen-living room with a plasterboard two-level ceiling. The ceiling should be white. The lightest shades of gray are also acceptable, in rare cases beige or sand.

The use of fabric ceilings, ceiling paintings and photo ceilings is unacceptable. Ceiling panels and mirrored ceilings are extremely rarely used.

Floor

The design of the room in this style implies a strict, perfectly flat floor. The most suitable coverage is stone, large ceramic tiles no pattern, porcelain.

But you can also lay a traditional laminate and floorboard in light beige, gray or dark colors.

Tips:

• Yes, minimalism is a “cold” style, but let it be cold only externally - it is better to warm self-leveling floors, tiles, granite tiles and stone.
• The color of the floor can match the ceiling or walls (accent wall), and can contrast with the bright environment and emphasize its cleanliness, as shown in the photo below (scroll to the right).

Walls

The walls, including the apron, must be uniform, perfectly smooth, concise. Wall panels, painting, large ceramic tiles without a pattern are appropriate. Wallpapers can highlight the accent wall in the working or dining area.

The colors of the walls are neutral shades, most often with a cold subtone.

The apron can be decorated with transparent or colored glass, stone, plain tiles in the color of the walls or countertops, in a contrasting color to the headset.

Stylization under minimalism allows the use of a combination of "smooth wall-textured walls." In this case, the walls become the decoration of the room: decorative plaster, imitation of wooden surfaces, panels with a discreet pattern (as a rule, longitudinal or transverse stripes). The wall, near which there is a dining or work area, is made out of a material different from the other walls.

Decor

The walls of the kitchen in the style of minimalism do not need decorative details, it is permissible to use Wall Clock and 1-3 conceptual pictures, and they do not have to be graphic.

Kitchens in the style of minimalism can be slightly revitalized with a minimal set of decorative objects: an unusual vase, an original chandelier or sconce, a stylish fruit stand, etc.

The decor should not be much: one vase or two or three bottles is enough.

To give the kitchen a little more habitability and harmony, as well as to clean the air, you can use indoor plants, with that in their number you can not limit yourself. With an abundance of plastic furniture and a gas stove, the presence of a mini-greenhouse is mandatory. Furniture and equipment

The rigor in the design and decor of the kitchen is compensated by the convenience, thoughtfulness, functionality of furniture, appliances and plumbing.

• Welcomed built-in appliances, closed deaf facades of the kitchen;

• The hood can perform not only practical, but also a decorative function;

Lighting

As already noted, minimalist design is not only open space, but also light. Actual premises with large windows and the use of multiple light sources.

The following combinations are possible:

• Central lighting (one large or several small chandeliers) above the table and illumination of the working area;
• Light panels on the ceiling and additional lighting for the dining room and work area;
• Spotlights and central lighting;
• Hidden illumination of the kitchen and central lighting.

Metallic, plastic, even wooden lamps are appropriate. Limiting yourself in the decoration and textiles, do not limit yourself in choosing a lamp - its design may be unusual, similar to origami, like a spaceship or resembling atoms.
