IKEA Kitchens: a photo in the interior and help for the buyer

IKEA kitchen in the interior

If you still doubt - understand the pros and cons

Pros: Good quality, corresponding to affordable prices, nice design in different style and colors, convenient service, free warranty for 25 years, relatively easy self-assembly. The advantages of furniture from Ikea also include: the ability to make up a kitchen set for small kitchen, the ability to buy household appliances compatible with the cabinet, all the accessories and kitchen accessories from the worktop to the lighting in one store, the ability to buy spare parts and change parts when repair is necessary.

  • Little kitchen Ikea

Minuses: Same type, limited choice of design, color and size of furniture. A modular system can be both an advantage and a disadvantage, since ready-made solutions do not always fit into non-standard rooms. In addition, most of the frameworks of the modules and cabinets facades are made of fiberboard or chipboard and covered with melamine film or paint, which means they are afraid of high temperatures, high humidity, mechanical damage, washing with abrasives.

On the change in the range in 2015-2016: comparison of the systems Method and Factum

Since April 1, 2015, Ikea has removed the skeleton system called Factum, which has been producing for more than 20 years, and started selling a fundamentally new modular system of standardized standard sizes Method. At the price, style and color solutions of the kitchen Method practically do not differ from Factum headsets. In the next selection of photos you can compare the most popular models of Factum kitchens in white color with their “substitutes” in the Method.

The most popular Lidingo series, made in the classical style with panels and glass, was replaced by an equally beautiful series of Budbin.

Here is a photo of the Ikea Kitchen Factum series of Lidingo in the interior, scroll to the right (no Ikea pens).

Another particularly popular series of kitchens was replaced by the Ramshe series Laksarbi.

Stot Kitchen that best fit the style provence and country music, replaced by at least “Provencal” Kroktorp, but in Russia this series, unfortunately, is not for sale, but on sale there is a similar series Khitarp.

What is the method radically different from the Factum? Thanks to the new module size system, you can assemble the kitchen as a designer, create more combinations of cabinets, fronts and drawers and more efficiently use the existing space.

  • You can choose one of 20 types of facades and select handles from 30 types. But cabinet frames exist only in 2 versions - in white and dark brown version and only from chipboard, finished with melamine film. These frames can be installed in its original form, and this decision is quite justified, since the frames are still not visible, but if you wish, you can additionally trim them with overlay panels.
  • The Method has 2 heights of floor modules - 60 and 80 cm, while you can install them on legs of different heights.

Colors and styles

Speaking about the choice of kitchen design, most often buyers mean the choice of facades, because the style and color of the interior of the main place in the house depends on them.

The colors of the facades are mostly basic, neutral and restrained: white, gray, brown (from beige to dark brown) and black, but there are also red, yellow, and green doors.

  • For a small kitchen, it is better to choose facades of light shades (white, gray, under a tree). You should not be afraid of marcos, the impracticality of light-colored headsets is often overestimated;
  • If you want something not too dark, but more practical and original than the common white kitchen, then notice the gray color. It is very easy to clean and fits into any interior from Provence before american classics. In the photo below is the gray Budbin set.

Conventionally, furniture styles in Ikea can be divided into 2 groups:

  1. Classic series: Budbin, Khitarp, you can also include here a little more concise Sevedal, Laksarbi, Edserun, Utis and Filipstad. These facades have panels or glass inserts, and therefore are suitable for the design of the kitchen in the style of Provence, chebbi chic, country, classic;
  2. Modern series: Brochult, Wedding, Ringtul, Ersta, Grevsta, Gerrestad, Rosdal, Tingsrid, Ekstad, Fledi. These facades are smooth, without panels and can have glossy surfaces, and Grevsta has a metal texture. Thanks to their conciseness, they are suitable for Scandinavian-style kitchens, high tech, minimalism, modern.

The photo shows the facades of Brockhult, replacing Sofilund.

How to choose Ikea cuisine?

The procedure for choosing a kitchen in Ikea is recommended as follows:

  1. First you need to prepare and plan the main points - where the cabinet will be installed, what equipment you need, what color you like more, etc. You should also visit the showroom to see Ikea's exhibition interiors with your own eyes, paying attention to: combinations of cabinets, drawers, facades , interior equipment, accessories, color combinations, accessories and, of course, prices. In the store, try to get the current catalog, and at home look for real reviews on the Internet about the options you like, as well as their real, not catalog kitchen photos in the interiors.

  1. We make measurements (they can be made independently, call a measurer from Ikea or another company).
  2. We download a free scheduler on the Russian-language site Ikea.com, be sure to register and remember the username and password so that the consultant can see your project in the store. Then we enter the sizes of kitchen taking into account sockets, pipes, ledges and we make various combinations of kitchen. The main thing here is to place the sink, refrigerator and stove in reasonable proximity to each other (working triangle rule); in the program you will also be able to choose appliances, interior equipment and accessories. As a result, you will receive a three-dimensional project, the generated price and the list of goods.
Ikea Scheduler Interface

  1. We are going to the store to make an order with a printed drawing, and most importantly - with a recorded username and password. Before accepting an order, a specialist will get acquainted with your project in order to avoid mistakes and will offer assembly and delivery services.
  • Please note that the different actions of a professional collector are paid differently, so read the rates in advance to avoid unpleasant surprises.
  1. It remains only to gather everything together independently or with the help of the company's assemblers. If the kitchen is small, then you can quite well produce and assemble and install modules. Mounted cabinets of the Method are hung on a special bar as shown in the photo below.

P.S: Most of the reviews about the kitchens from Ikea are positive and yet some consumers remain dissatisfied with the quality of the furniture or service. In this video, the author talks about his not entirely successful experience in the purchase and assembly of the Stot headset.

Why not buy an IKEA kitchen now. Perhaps earlier, the quality control of IKEA in Russia was higher, but now ... We were led to ease of assembly, compatibility of elements and the alleged quality of IKEA kitchens, and of course, the price just below the similar ones to order (do not believe those who sing a song about what IKEA kitchen 2 or even 3 times cheaper (even with the incessant shares), this is not true).
We assembled the kitchen ourselves, DO NOT BELIEVE statements about the simplicity of assembly, which only costs installation of 27 pens, for which there are no filler places. There is also no normal upper (3rd tier) corner cabinet; it is assembled from two ordinary ones with an insert that needs to be measured and sawn out.
You also need to understand that all these extra holes (additive), which Ikea drills (shelves, standard cheap plastic legs, etc.), in order to unify production, will eventually be a place from which to “fade” formaldehyde. And if earlier they were producing rivets, now it is 100pcs ~ 50p. On one cabinet you need about 50 rivets.

During assembly, the following were found:
    1. Visible irregularities of the assembled cabinets.
    2. On ALL frames, glue protrudes from the edges of the LDSP. It is sticky with dirt sticking to it, and the boxes are white. All this will have to scour. Where in the Internet, they write that all ldsp for Ikea, produced in Russia, apparently associated with this quality.
    3. The kitchen is large, 3 worktops docked, 2 worktops were normal, and tick marks were drawn on the 3rd worktop with a permanent marker. The tabletop was in the original packaging, the impression that they found some sort of marriage, marked, possibly fixed and packed. IKEA refused to exchange the countertop!
3.1. As for the edge of the tabletop, then there is also glue here, BUT it is much larger, on the face of the tabletop you can find pieces of adhered glue, which is not rubbed.
    4. IKEA saves on the back walls, as a rule they consist of 2 parts glued together with tape. The exception was the drying, there is a solid rear wall, but it differs in a shade of white (gray) from all the others.
    5. Ikea cabinets are assembled in such a way that eccentrics are visible from the bottom, for lower cabinets, this is normal, and upper cabinets are decorated with metal.
    6. The facades also have traces of glue, or something else that “magnetizes dirt”, but only in some places, although all facades have markings made in italy. As a result, dirty stripes are visible on the white facades.

Thus, all reviews, where everyone is just delighted with the kitchen Ikea, look like paid. Fittings with closers and beautiful facades are also from other manufacturers.
It is also worth considering that if earlier there was not a single “extra carnation” in Ikea furniture, now it remains ... just like in Russian furniture ...
