The main advantages of tables with a stone table top are:

  1. Beautiful appearance, the ability to choose from a variety of colors and structures - from white to black, interspersed or plain, with patterns, with a polished or matte surface. Artificial stone can be used to make worktops of almost any shape, especially if we are talking about its acrylic variety, which is easy to process.
  2. Even if the price of the product seems to be too high, you should remember about the very long operation of such products.

  1. Smooth and uniform countertops are very easy to maintain - neither water, grease, nor dirt penetrates them. Therefore, on such tables does not settle the mold and microorganisms.
  2. Stability of form, even with sharp temperature changes.
  3. The possibility of local repair and grinding.
  4. Mechanical stability, scratch resistance.
  5. Increased flexural and compressive strength.

Certain disadvantages include a lot of weight (but it is lighter in relation to natural stone), inconvenient mounting of overall structures, and the fear of high temperatures (tables made of acrylic polymer).

Staron, Corian, silestone ... What is the difference?

Samples of artificial stone

The artificial stone from which the tabletops are made differs in:

  • type of composite material;
  • the proportions of binder resins and fillers;
  • the type of stone chips used;
  • the type of filler used (this function can be performed by quartz sand or limestone, marble or granite chips).

However, Corian, Staron and other types of artificial stone differ from each other not so much by their composition as by their origin - manufacturers patent their products and give it a name.

Types of artificial stone

The main types of stone for making countertops

Tables made of artificial stone can be made of acrylic polymer or quartz agglomerate.

Acryl successfully replaces the traditional laminated chipboard, as well as wood, while remaining a budget and practical solution. It easily takes any form - even the overall design, produced by technology, will remain seamless.

For acrylic stone, the characteristic high wear resistance, and surface defects can be removed by grinding. To care for these tables do not require special chemicals. Their only drawback - susceptibility to high temperatures, so that under the hot frying pans will need to provide special coasters. Quartz agglomerate is widely used for kitchen countertops due to its strength and durability.In addition, it is available in a wide range of colors - much more variable than natural stone. There are also solutions with a matte or glossy surface. Such countertops do not absorb liquid at all, since there are no micropores here. In addition, they are immune to cuts, ultraviolet and chemicals. Temperature extremes or humidity cannot harm this design. The material also belongs to environmentally friendly and does not absorb water or odors at all. How to choose the shape, size and color of the table

When choosing a stone table, it is necessary to take into account the many nuances, including the configuration of the working area, and the overall dimensions of the room, and the number of family members who will use the tabletop daily, as well as matching the room design.

Basic recommendations for selection are:

  1. The most universal is the shape of a square or rectangle. Such a table can be put in the center of the room or moved to the wall.

Round and oval models They are very beautiful, they have no sharp corners and, as is known, they are conducive to communication, but they are more suitable for large kitchens, because they do not move to the wall.

  1. Choosing a dark table, you should be prepared for the fact that on such a surface minor scratches are more noticeable. The least noticeable operational damage to the table tops with granular or patterned patches, with a pronounced texture.

  1. Additional details of the decor - for example, figure processing of the sides, will increase the cost of the product. Of great importance is the thickness of the tabletop - the thicker it is, the more expensive the structure will be.
  2. To determine the optimal area of the table, you need to take into account the constant number of consumers - 600 mm of free space should fall on each person sitting at the table. And to determine the diameter of a round model, this rule is taken into account - for 4 people 90 cm, for 8 - 140 cm, for five -120 cm. If there are more than 8 people sitting at the table, then the round design will be overly large. It is better to replace such a table with an oval, and even better - choose folding round table.

    I personally saw something similar and I would say that the thing is so cool, including in its operational properties (you really cann’t use a cutting board), that if you don’t have enough or sorry money for the entire kitchen, then it makes sense to at least make "islands"! Then 1000 times, thanks to yourself.

    For some reason, I always thought that such tables can only be in cafes, restaurants, etc., but it turns out to be very cool at home and very functional, the only disadvantage is that their price is not cheap

    The most important advantage of such tables is a huge variety of textures that are the same in pattern and shade of the tables, you simply will not find, you will have a unique table.

    The presence of stone products, except of course the countertops in my kitchen is not welcome, greater preference for wood and glass. Although, if the kitchen was bigger, then a stone table would be fine.

    You have no idea how surprised I was when I saw such dining tables for the kitchen on sale. I also thought that this is more an option for cafes and restaurants. But having appreciated all the pros and cons, we bought such a table ... How glad I am that finally the sovdepov type of oilcloth disappeared from the table with the frayed pattern and cuts from the knife ... You can wash the beautiful appearance with a damp cloth or a sponge with soapy water, no there are stains, no problems with scratches and cuts from the knife. And even its minus (heavy) can be turned into a plus ... It is very stable and when children rush around the house, it is not so easy to move it))) Another alternative is glass. But really sooo at such a table troublesome care ...
