What you need:

  • Vinegar
  • Water
  • Rubber gloves

  1. Make a paste of soda: In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup of baking soda with a few tablespoons of water. Add water until the mixture becomes pasty. In our case, 3 tablespoons of water were used.

Baking soda

  1. Process the oven with the preparation obtained: Apply the mixture to all internal surfaces of the oven, avoiding the heating elements. Do not forget to wear gloves so as not to get your hands dirty and paste the most hard-to-reach places with paste. In particularly dirty areas, the mixture may turn brown from soot and grease and form lumps — such areas should be covered particularly thickly.

Oven cleaning

  1. Leave the soda overnight: leave the soda-covered oven for overnight or at least 12 hours.
  2. Wash the rack and trays: while the oven is soaked, clean the grill and trays. This can be done also by pre-soaking in a bath with dishwashing detergent, and then by mechanical cleaning with soda.

Cleaning the grate

  1. Clean the oven: in the morning (or after 12 hours), take a damp cloth and remove as much dried paste, grease and soot as possible. As needed, use a plastic or silicone spatula to scrape away dirt.

  3. Pour water into the pan and dilute citric acid in it: while the oven is heating, pour water into a bowl or baking sheet and dissolve a bag of citric acid (10-20 g) in it. Citric acid can be replaced with 1-2 teaspoons of acetic essence or a small amount of dishwashing liquid.

Oven cleaning with citric acid

  1. Put the baking tray with the solution on the lower shelf of the oven: in a preheated oven on the lower tier, put a pan with a solution. Bowl can be put on the bottom.
  2. Leave the oven for 40 minutes: leave the oven for 40 minutes, namely until the water boils and the door of the chamber “sweats”.

  4. Clean the oven and grate: when the pan has cooled, take a damp cloth and thoroughly wipe the walls of the chamber and the grate. If necessary, use the hard side of the sponge, spray with water, and soda or the same citric acid to remove old stains of fat and soot.

  • Amway Oven Cleaner - odorless, effective, economically consumed, sold with a brush for the distribution of funds, but has a high price;

  3. Give the tool "work": leave the oven for 15-30 minutes depending on the degree of contamination.
  4. Clean the oven from burning and grease: after such “soaking” old fat and burned food contamination will be washed off quickly enough.
  5. Remove any residues: when you clean all surfaces of dirt, thoroughly wash off the remnants of the gel. Spray with water will help to rinse the camera in hard to reach places.

  4. Turn off the oven and put both bowls in it: in a preheated oven at the bottom of the oven put a bowl of water, and just above (on the shelf) put a bowl of liquid ammonia.

Bowl with ammonia

  1. Leave the oven to cool: This process takes about 30-40 minutes. But, if the pollution is very old, then it is better to leave a bowl with ammonia overnight.

Almost always cook in the oven. Therefore, I already know how to wash it. But I am now looking for how to cook, so that the fat does not fall on the walls of the oven and so does not eat. Tired of washing it every week. Who knows the tricks, tell me, please. Thank you in advance!

  2. Daniel says

At high temperatures, fats evaporate and condense on the internal surfaces of the oven to avoid fatty condensation, protect the source of fat, such as a baking sleeve or pressurized dishes.

I, frankly, never used grease removers: the same oven, for example, soap with a slightly diluted dishwashing detergent. But in the next such washing some difficulties arose - I discovered nagara (I don’t know how to call them correctly, but I think it’s understandable) and a fat spot that I couldn’t wipe off, I even wanted to scrape with a knife, I confess, but it didn’t help) As a result, I saw the Unicum grease remover, quite affordable in price, I decided that I would not lose much if I didn’t help) However, I obviously underestimated the tool: I had to leave it for 20 seconds, I decided to keep the oven for a little longer just in case) In the end, she could not believe her eyes Yes, I began to wipe the walls of the oven - I didn’t even have to apply force, all these soot-spots disappeared without a trace, the surface of the oven was whole and intact. By the way, the smell of the product is quite tolerable (I was afraid that it would be necessary to leave the kitchen for the duration of the action - but no, I didn’t have to) - as I understand it, this indicates low toxicity of the product, which is also a definite plus sign

Thank you for your advice, and then I cooked a duck on NG, so the whole oven spattered something, it never happened, and because it’s not properly washed.

I myself use these unicum products, not only for cleaning the surfaces in the kitchen (the grease remover is very cool), but for carpets there is also a tool - it also cleans well. Israeli quality, and therefore kosher))

  6. Ilya Yarovoy says

Yes, if the fat is old, then a simple dishwashing liquid will not cope, that's for sure.

  7. Elena Sesitskaya says

caustic soda dissolves fat with a bang, it’s already 20 kg, it’s consumed with a wife, we get it in a sanstantion. very cheap but neatly necessary, hands and eyes must be protected

  8. Alena Grenkovskaya says

Fu as I remember these troubles with old ovens, while crawling through, while you wash all these surfaces are greasy, you will hate everyone! whether my last case is all thought out constructively, the panel is removed, the grill is folded back.besides steam cleaning. I have not used any caustic chemistry for a long time, I just don’t need it, I am convinced that it is very harmful to health!
